More settings for multiple blog user needed!

December 18, 2006

I am surfing around wordpress blogs as I used to do all the time. Now, there is just one thing different: I have two language parts. Lavtian blogs and English blogs (Sometimes German blogs too), as I have my Latvian and my English blog.

My problem is, that I want to commentate in both languages. Bad thing about it is,  that (as long as I am logged in) the settings allow just a link to my Latvian or this blog.

I would like to comment to blogs with a link to my blogs in the adequate language. I hope that is possible. WordPress often listens to user wishes, so I’ll just tell them!

wordpress blogs in your language

November 21, 2006

Sometimes I spot things that were so damn obvious and I should have noticed them a long time ago. I could nearly hit myself for not noticing it, but the joy about my discovery is to great. Hot talk, yeah?

Okay, I’ll come to the point. Did you ever saw something like de.wordpress.com? lv.wordpress.com? fr.wordpress.com? Basically, it’s just the normal account screen alike as wordpress.com. But it’s in your (choosen) language! And more important, the blogs and posts it features are just in that specific language. As far as I tried, the domain ending of your country just needs to be insertet in the place of where usually the blog name is! n0id.wordpress.com -> de.wordpress.com.

I’m leaving

August 18, 2006

This night I’ll be leaving for Latvia. I fly from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt and then to Riga. My hostfamily will wait there. Huh! I’m kinda nervous now.

Btw: WordPress.com has some new awesome features. Example? My current post got just auto saved. Try the pages around the dashboard. A comment and tag tracker. Hilarious!

Peace, I’m out. See or read or write you soon (hopefully, at least).

Upgrade your WordPress.com blog

August 5, 2006

In the admin panel there is a new page avaible: Upgrades. The deal is simple. You buy credits and can upgrade your blog with those.

In addition to all of the free features of WordPress.com, we offer a few options for paid upgrades for enhanced functionality. Credits cost $1 each. The buttons below will bring you to a Paypal page where they can be purchased. We do not offer refunds on credits or products purchased on WordPress.com

However, the only avaible option to buy is custom CSS. Only? I think that is a very good start. Custom CSS was so often requested and in my opinion the only disadvantage of wordpress.com in comparison with other blog hosts.

It was a clever move to offer custom CSS for money only. I am thinking of making use of this offer for the future myself. And I’m curious what else the wordpress guys will offer.

Multiple blogs on wordpress.com

April 10, 2006

You are now able to administrate several blogs on wordpress.com with only one account. I won’t need it (okay, I don’t know for sure, but at the moment) but in my opinion it shows again that the wordpress folks are always working to improve WordPress – no matter if it’s wordpress.com or the downloadable wordpress. .

The customizable sidebar …

March 19, 2006

… rocks. That’s it. I like it. It don’t seem to be a way of customisation with endless possibilities, but it is (at least nearly).  The most useful point are textboxes. Textboxes ? Yes, but they accept some HTML, so you can add links, images, linked images and I would suggest even lists or just simple text of course. I instantly added some buttons (yeah the 80×15 kind) but I think I will remove some, they are just too colorful. Happy pimping (could one say that ? it sounds … strange).

Confession Of A Server

March 12, 2006

OH MY! Life is so unfair! What did I do wrong to be born a server in this day and age? I could have been a nice simple bicycle that people happily rode around on all day. But no, I’m stuck inside this metal case serving web pages instead. I never even see the light of day and all I can hear is the rush of the air-conditioning! Well, no more! I’m relaxing here with a cup of tea and a biscuit until someone shows me some love and attention.

It never takes them long to fix me when I kick up a fuss so check back in a few minutes and I’ll be chugging along merrily again.!

Signed,
The WordPress.com web server
(WordPress.com – where even the machines have life!)

That’s just what I saw, when I visited my blog. WordPress was down. But I didn’t mind, I never saw such a nice error message. Even now, the WordPress.com servers are a bit slow, but who cares, when they got these error messages. WordPress could actually don’t work more often, but only when they invent more of them.  :-)

Askimet Spam

March 1, 2006

I think this blog is now popular enough for google, that spammers like it too. Usually, all spam gets caught by Askimet, but today I had one comment who could escape all spam filters. I wonder why, because it looks just like every spam comment: A name, a link and text like ‘xahasdjfl syxjiok’. I hope that won’t repeat, I hate spam.

A Popup sucks

February 10, 2006

I like the WYSIWYG editor coming with WordPress 2.0 or the wordpress.com blogs. But definitely not the solution to insert links: A Popup in a new tiny window. That takes to much time to load. The old message boxes were much better.

Plugins

January 13, 2006

At first, I was disappointed that you have any possibility to use a plugin or any other themes you might like. I am pluginaddicted and I really like to optimize and to tweak my template. But today (yes, I realized that’s friday the 13th) I had (and still have, I yet didn’t solve them) some problems with wordpress plugins. And I realized that it is great you’ll never have any problems with these wordpress hosted blogs. They just work, work and work.
