A special kind of humor

September 7, 2007

I just spotted a hilarious entry in the world’s freest encyclopedia. It gave me a very sentimental feeling, but I couldn’t stop laughing for quite a while.  They do have a very special kind of humor. Even in Latvia they know it, although there are some arguments between Latvians and Russians…

Cambridge Certificate

January 26, 2007

I registered now for the First Certificate in English (FCE) and payed the fee. I think I saved some money in Latvia, but to be true, that are just peanuts. Anyway, I went to the British Council and looked through the library. The teaching books didn’t seemed that difficult to me. And I thought I should have directly tried to achieve the next level, the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).

I took no books with me, because I would have needed to pay a 7-Lats fee for one year of library use and I decided with a look into my empty wallet I would first search the internet and ask my english teacher. As far as I know my school in Latvia (after all it is called Riga English Grammar School) has a library to and I can get books there for free. They should have training material there too.

But first I look in the internet. It took me some time to find something, although there is plenty material on the official website. Blind as a bat I found some link from somewhere else to the site … after half an hour research. There is just no ‘real’ material besides the official provided one and everything else are just book offers. Really.

I tried out the Reading Part which consists of several texts and questions about them and is about 70 minutes. I found it unexpected difficult, but I managed to finish ways under the time limit and got a result of 87% correct answers of the maximum points. In my opinion a good result for the first try.

And finally I discoverd that I had downloaded the CPE papers instead of CFE. A pity that I didn’t registered for the more advanced level … but anyway, I’m content with the easier level, because there are sure some more difficult parts waiting than Reading, as Writing, Listening and … finally Grammar. These remain to be trained. And then will see, on 10 of March.

finetune – create your own radio playlist

January 4, 2007

A friend of mine just spotted aVery Interesting Idea, finetune. You can browse a directory of thousands of authors and take from each one up to 3 tracks to complete your own 45 tracks including playlist. And of course with all the webtwopointohh stuff – tagging, user profiles, playlist sharing and so on and on.

And, as it is web 2.0 – it’s still beta too (or shall I say alpha?). It’s a bit buggy too. But still, you can give it a try.

More Keywords

November 15, 2006

I started this post a long while a go to record the most hilarious ones. Actually I don’t have the time to lock every now and then if there is a good one in the list, so just enjoy these:

is martial arts dangerous

of course, stupid!!! you can break every single bone!

Swedish is a singsong language

I don’t know, ask her. I was talking about French.

people that want to donate

Haha, great. Were it that easy, I would have searched contributors via google and I would be rich by now.

different meanings of the word fuck

It’s so interesting what people search for ….

fuck me online

Interesting how many visitors I get whose keywords contain the word ‘fuck’

onlin shops that deal in fun

spelling is difficult, isn’t it? by the way, fun is free!!

“Du kannst mich mal” english

It means something like ‘up yours’. Next time, try a dictionary.

find my icq-number

Haha! I took that one, because I always forget my icq-number too. Try a text-file or something. I usually look it up at my blog.

effects of blogging to students

Gorgeous, isn’t it? Don’t know. Do I look more like an idiot than I already did before? Or could I possibly have advanced my self?

Some kind of a review

May 11, 2006

Today I read somewhere (to be more specific, it was a blog – who guessed wrong ? Ten slaps … at least.) the following question (I would like to honor the author, but I can't remember him/her, sorry):

Which article did you like best?

And to help you a little, you could browse my archive. And to long this article (I don't like those very short articles) a short statistic of my blogging behaviour:

  • May – Four posts, including this one.
  • March – Fourteen posts.

Alltogether 43 posts with 89 comments within 23 categories. The most used category is Misc.

What else? Maybe the technorati link page. I would like to count the word within my post or something like this, but this isn't possible, as far as I know (with your own wordpress it is). I would love to hear more statistic ideas from you.

For now I have to be off – the French homework lies on my bed and smiles. (I don't like that smile – it's sly and treacherous …)

Blogging is pure fun – or how blogging affects your life

April 24, 2006

In the last day I had severel really enjoyable moments. The all had to deal with blogging or blog articles or bloggers or some side effects of it. Even when I wasn't actually blogging a single entry. :-)

First, another wordpress blogger, William Parry, asked me to join a project with him, something related to AJAX. The interesting thing is, that he lives on the other edge of the world: In New Zealand. I'm really excited to see how this kind of teamwork goes on. In the end, w're just doing a simple project to learn and work with AJAX, but I think I'll learn much more. At least a little project managment, as I worked always with myself before. More, maybe soon (I always write that, got it? But not because I actually mean to do it, but to make you return to this page if you liked any article :D okay, this time I think I really mean it)

(Fuck, fuck, fuck. I just wrote about two more long paragraphs, hit the 'Save and Contine Editing' button and what happened? Well, It loaded a new page – but it was blank. I waited some time then returned to the page before (in hope my test would be there again as it sometimes is), but it was all lost. I'm actually very annoyed (not to say pissed – before I was very content and happy and … which makes me even more angry) with wordpress.com … so what, I'll write it again. Nevertheless that suck, as I had some funny wort games in it (okay, at least I thought they would be funny).)

Okay. Second try. And second (rembember, I started with 'first' above, so I've got to continue with 'second'), not in any order of importance or so, but the time order, I got an ICQ message. First I didn't recognized the sender at all, but then I remembered her again. She had commented on my German blog a few month ago.

How did she found it? Well, she's an exchange student too – and she's also going with YFU to Latvia. Now it's easy to guess how she found it: with google (okay, as I don't want to favor google or advertise for them, maybe it was any other searchengine like yahoo, msn, aol or so – but you must admit, that actually most of the people refer with to google to to use a searchengine. why not, it's much shorter).

(Now, I saved again (not without having hit strg+a and strg+c) and it did save. At least this time.)

On Saturday, she (as I) got mail from YFU, with the date of our departure, the nineteenth of agust. She was striked with a lightning and suddenly remembered my blog, visited it again, took my ICQ number and said hello. We had a very nice talk about YFU and Latvia and all these things we share (I knew much she didn't knew as I talked with an exchange student who was last year in Latvia with YFU***, but she knew even a lot of new information for me).

*** Just as I was writing this, she talked again too me. She had mentioned that she met another exchange student who was in Poland. This guy gave her the ICQ number of my YFU contact person … isn't that strange? The web, the world, just everything is sooo small.

Third, another YFU exchange student from France commented on my blog. She probably googled (yes, yes) for it too. I think that was Saturday too, and as I was already in this excited mood, I decided to write her a mail. Since then, we wrote several mails and talked also via msn. The strange thing is, that she always tried to speak in German and I used French … it was just reversed. But she made a mistake: She mentioned that she speaks English very well. Now I'll talk English as I try to do so with every person I can. But okay, maybe'll make an exception.

The fourth (and finally last thing – how damn long is this blog entry again? This happens usually, I start to blog … and blog … and blog) thing happened today. I wrote about my application for an practical in the summer holidays on my german blog too. And someone else … well, the strange thing is how I got to know him, so I'll tell this first. Nevertheless, I found this guy with GeoURL(some kind of web gps) and read his for some time, because he lives nearby. And then I commented, as you do that. He went to my blog and read it from time to time.

Okay, so he knew that they denied my application because they hadn't enough employees in the summer time (they all have holidays too, I'd suggest). And so he offered me a practical where he works. I thought for a while, mailed back and after all, I applied for it. The great thing is that the area where I'll be (if all fits – but he thinks so) is marketing. Especially the internet marketing part, with their webservers and -sites, tools, scripts, php and so on. That's wonderful. I can't wait to the summer holidays now. It's only for two weeks, but I'm really glad now that Inform declined.

Holy crap, what weekend (and weekstart). I'm out. Doing homework, school started today.

God is a DJ

Amazing, this video

By the way, does anyone know how you can include your videos directly into wordpress? Every piece of code is automatically deleted when I try this.

Keywordfun

April 13, 2006

I wrote down funny keywords for a while now and as I got nothing else to write about I'll puplish my list. Inclusive my own comments of course.

blizzard people are assholes

Maybe, indeed. I could have killed at least four or five GameMasters for their stupid behaviour. If you learned nothing at school you would make a good politician. If you were to stupid for that, Blizzard would employ you for sure!

blizzard, i hate you

How many poeple are out there who dislike Blizzard ? I think most of them have read my article about Blizzard, as there come very often visitors via google with those search terms.

china town shop online

no, absolutly wrong ;-)

css bulletproof webdesign examples onlin

nearly, nearly!

t

Yes, only a 't'. I have no idea how you can find n0id online with 't' as a keyword. I searched for t and I had 8.560.000.000 search results. I don't want to know my exact ranking position. It must be at the very end, so why does someone browse all these search results?

Having fun with CSS

March 27, 2006

In informatics at school, we're doing now (now is relative – we're doing this subject a few weeks already and wrote the first test I got back today – of course and A+ if that's equal to a 'very good', the best mark in Germany) a nice topic: HTML and soon CSS too. I don't think I'll learn that much and I've stopped wonder me about the ancient webdesign methods we are teached (I like our informatics teacher, but she insist 'on learning the basics first' – I think there are new basic methods used today) as frame or table based webdesign.

Instead of learning only HTML pupils should start with HTML (maybe xhtml) and CSS, so that they are directly walking the right way of webdesign. And I don't try to convince my friends anymore to learn CSS instead of trying to solve bitchy frame layout problems they would'nt have with CSS.

We have the task to create & design an online youth magazine. A friend of mine and me didn't bother about a topic, but we had a nice idea for a layout. And it pleases me more and more. You can have a sneakpreview, but I don't want to tell the ideas we're still trying to implement. And maybe, I'll adept this theme for wordpress too. Would be my first theme, but I like the idea.

Some gossip

March 12, 2006

I could write here about whatever I want. The greatest bullshit I could imagine. Noone cares. At least, noone cares and reads here regularly I know personally . That’s extremly useful when you have one, two or more blogs and not all are visited by your friends. As I said, I could talk bullshit all day long, behave like a swine, literarly burp, blaspheme, pretend to be someone else (maybe that’s what I’m actually doing ;-) ), blame my readers (there aren’t that much anyway) and everything else, just for fun. Of course I don’t need to have a blog like this for doing it. But it helps. To get started, visit this link, my dear readers .
